“The Secret World of Haute Couture” explains, well, the secret (private) world of haute couture – specifically, the ladies who can and do afford it.

It’s the first in a series of six, which you can watch here if you’re boss is out of the office/you’re still on winter break.

We kind of love the American that leads you into the world of the highest kind of fashion in the video above – she was the only one who would come right out and talk to BBC, who put this project together.

My favorite quote was from the Russian Baroness who said, “it had nothing to do with status, it was more of a habit..” Yeah right lady, the average haute couture price for just a blouse could start at $12,000. This is a world of incredibly wealthly women who all belong to an elite club of haute couture..yes, it’s an actual club and you have to be a member to purchase these fine clothes. The snobbery and elitism showcased in this documentary is astounding, but at the end of the day, I will sell my mother for the chance to have one of these !!!
