I’m crazy about 3 things in life.  Art, fashion, and people with real talent. Recently I was granted permission to feature the artwork of fashion illustrator Gustabo Rodriguez. I could only wish to be so talented of an artist and I hope to feature more of his work soon.

9 Questions with Gustabo

1. How did you you enter the field of fashion illustration?
its a bit of a chew (long story), but as a friend of mine so eloquently put it once, it beats driving a forklift for a living !

2. What are some of the shapes that define Fall 2008?
I dont have a compulsion to follow trends, it can become an addictive routine , like morphine ,alcohol or idealism even with the best intent can create myopic views

3. You usually work from a muse. Who is your current muse and why?
My muses live in my imagination , not say that I’m not always open to a fresh face for inspiration

4. What is your favorite medium in which to work?
Watercolors, acrylic, pencil, pen and photoshop comprise my utility belt

5. What makes a woman sexy?
genetics aside , the innate ability to engage with confidence and ease demanding undivided
attention and desire

6. You have lived in NYC most of your life. If you had to live anywhere else where would it be?
Its hard to fathom living anywhere else other than new york city …..i’ll bite though and say anywhere closer to my cuban roots and climate

7. How would you describe your illustrative style?
I have a hard time with labels … sorry

8. What are your favorite pieces of clothing to draw?
Couture is always a crowd pleaser

9. What are some enduring sources of inspiration for you?
Ingenuity in the creative process on all levels of discipline never cease to amaze and inspire.
