Celebrites shine on the runway for The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection 2012

I just love this event and look forward to this event every year. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman in a gorgeous red dress, and it’s for a great cause.

Celebs including Chaka Khan, Gloria Estefan, Rose McGowan, Rebecca Romijn, Jenna Elfman, Aisha Tyler, and Idina Menzel took to the runway at The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection Fall 2012 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Wednesday. The event was part of a heart health awareness campaign.

The annual event features actresses, singers and other celebs dressed in their best red gowns to bring attention to a disease that stands as the number one killer of women in the United States. It’s also known to be more prevalent among African-American women than white women.

Chaka Khan walked the runway wearing a Chris March design while La La Anthony rocked a figure-fitting Rachel Roy dress. Vivica A. Fox, Aisha Tyler and Phylicia Rashad were also on hand to lend their support to the cause, along with Rebecca Romijn, Gloria Estefan, Idina Menzel, Rose McGowan and Minka Kelly.

The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection was created by Million Hearts, a campaign by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to prevent a million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. This year’s 10th run of the fashion show marked the beginning of New York City Fashion Week.
